Instacart Launches One-Hour Grocery Delivery Service in St. Louis

The fast-growing retail delivery service announced it has expanded into St. Louis, its first city in Missouri, and will add 150 jobs.

Instacart, the fast-growing retail delivery service whose personal shoppers handpick and deliver items from trusted local stores, announced on Thursday that it has expanded into St. Louis, its first city in Missouri. The service delivery area will cover over 900,000 residents and provide more than 150 new jobs.

St. Louis residents can now order from their favorite grocers including Shop ‘n Save, Schnucks, Straubs, Whole Foods Market, Petco and Costco, and have their groceries delivered straight to their doorsteps in as little as one hour. In addition to St. Louis City and inner suburbs, the service cover a wide range of areas including Eureka, Oakville, Edwardsville, Rosewood Heights, Florissant, St. Peters, Wentzville, Chesterfield, Imperial, and more.

“Over the past year we’ve seen incredible demand in the St. Louis area,” said Dave Osborne, Instacart General Manager. “We strive to provide the freshest, highest quality groceries to our customers.”

“Expansion into St. Louis gives us an opportunity to begin servicing consumers in the Missouri market. We’re also excited to build a world-class shopper community, where we can offer fun and flexible jobs for our shoppers, who ultimately deliver this amazing service to the community.”

How Instacart Works:

Customers go online to or open the Instacart mobile app, select their city and store, add items to a virtual cart, and then choose a delivery window (within one hour, within two hours, or up to seven days in advance) and then check out. An Instacart Personal Shopper accepts the order on his/her smartphone, uses the Instacart Shopper app to guide them through shopping, and then delivers the order to the customer in the designated delivery timeframe.
