Arch Grants, the St. Louis nonprofit organization that operates the nationally recognized Global Startup Competition, announced today that it has hired Emily Lohse-Busch as its new Executive Director.
Lohse-Busch is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, received her M.B.A. from DePaul University, and has returned to St. Louis. “I am looking forward to continuing the Arch Grants mission of attracting and retaining outstanding entrepreneurial talent for St. Louis,” Lohse-Busch says.
Lohse-Busch founded her own strategic communications business for small businesses in Chicago and served in a strategic leadership capacity for a consulting firm serving nonprofits in Chicago. Most recently, she worked as the Senior Director of Partner Solutions with Global Impact, a nonprofit organization based in Washington D.C. that serves international nonprofits.
“We are thrilled, after a national search, to have Emily join us as Executive Director,” says Jerry Schlichter, Chairman of Arch Grants. He added, “Emily demonstrates what is core to the mission of Arch Grants – attracting and retaining national talent in St. Louis – plus she is a founder herself.”
“Emily’s nonprofit fundraising and leadership experience will ensure that Arch Grants has the direction and resources to continue the transformation of St. Louis into an innovation hub. She has returned to St. Louis, planting her flag here to help to build a new St. Louis – the same mission as that of Arch Grants.”
Lohse-Busch was attracted to Arch Grants’ proven track record. Lohse-Busch explained, “Now with five years of impact, as presented in the 2016 Arch Grants Annual Report, Arch Grants has the data, stories, and vision to be emblematic of the new innovation economy in St. Louis.”
Arch Grants Director of Entrepreneurship Ben Burke held the position of Interim Executive Director since March after Ginger Imster, who served as Arch Grants Executive Director from 2013-2017, moved to the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership to serve as VP of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
