The Bourbon Friday Show

The Bourbon Friday Show with Elise Hastings from Givable

On this episode of the Bourbon Friday Show we had the opportunity to talk with Elise Hastings, Managing Director of Givable, about their giving platform and how it’s helping people think differently about giving.

Givableβ€”The Ease of Activation

For many charities and nonprofits in St. Louis, the question of how to get people from all different walks of life to incorporate giving into their everyday life and to prioritize giving back to their local community, is an important one. Even with the with the honor of being ranked as one of the top most charitable cities in the nation, St. Louis still has room for improvement.

β€œGivable is a platform and what we try to do is we try to incorporate giving into the rhythm of everyone’s life,” says Hastings.

Getting involved is as easy as checking your emailβ€”which we all know we do many, many times a day. After you join the Givable platform, you will receive an email each day to make a donation to one of the two local nonprofit or charitable organizations listed in the email. You can give as little as 25 cents a dayβ€”the choice is up to you.

Not only does the email come directly to you, but you also have the agency to learn about and then choose where you would like your donation to go. So while this does benefit the charities and nonprofits in St. Louis, it also helps people get to know and feel connected with the charities they choose to support.

All in all, by leveraging the ease and convenience of email, Givable aims to continue financially supporting, and improving the awareness of, the vast number of charitable organizations that St. Louis has to offer. And in turn, the residents of St. Louis also benefit: by feeling more invested in and proud of their city.

Bourbon Innovation

As always, the Bourbon Friday team does their best to choose a fitting drink for the occasion. The bottle this week was Maker’s Mark Private Select Bourbon.

Much like how the focus for the show this week is innovating philanthropyβ€” at Maker’s Mark, they are also doing some innovation of their own. Recently, female leaders from both the non-profit and corporate space went down to the Maker’s Mark Distillery to create their own bourbon.

Join Bourbon Friday every Friday at 4:00pm (CT) on Zoom.

Once the bourbon is ready to be sold, the profits made from selling their select bourbon will go to a variety of fundraising efforts. While the bottle on the show did not come from that same barrel, we commend their efforts to innovating the giving scene.

Don’t forget to watch The Bourbon Friday Show on EQ’s Facebook page every Friday at 4:30pm CT. If you’d like to attend Bourbon Friday please email Nick Niehaus at [email protected] to be added to the invite list.
