nativeMSG—Simplifying Communication Channels
For many people, the idea of talking to a chatbot isn’t all that appealing. Nonsensical answers, awkward ‘conversations’ (if you could even call it that), and unresolved issues after-the-fact create disdain for tools that are supposed to make life easier for businesses and customers.
Though it’s true that having a free-flowing and unhindered conversation with a chatbot is probably years in the future, that doesn’t mean that conversational automation systems can’t work for your business today.
“nativeMSG is a platform for automating business functions across messaging channels,” says Lamb “those messaging channels could be the top messaging channels like Facebook Messenger, Twitter, WhatsApp, Skype, Slack, or even the native messaging channel on a device—your SMS or MMS inbox”
This platform can be used for client-facing communication or for internal company communication.
For client facing interactions, the main areas where the platform is used are customer service and support. Lamb says it’s most successfully utilized when companies are able to narrow down the top three reasons your customers reach out and then allow customers to use whichever messaging channel they want, instead of forcing them into the channel that works best for your company.
These types of interactions typically have greater successful since they are more structured and are less based on conversational content.
Internally, nativeMSG has been used successfully in employee onboarding tasks and various HR tasks. Say you want to know how many vacation days you have left for the year. Instead of having to call human resources and ask them to look it up, the messaging system can look it up and provide the answer almost instantaneously. The information already exists in the company database, by using the nativeMSG platform you’re taking the time and hassle out of finding it.

As always, the Bourbon Friday team does their best to choose a fitting drink for the occasion.
This week the drink of choice is Bulleit Bourbon. While Bulleit Bourbon may not directly relate to NativeMSG, the company that owns Bulleit, Diageo, is credited with creating the first chatbot based around whiskey. A few years ago Diageo implemented a chatbot-like tool to help users narrow down their preferences to find a whiskey, specifically scotch, that they would enjoy most.
