The Bourbon Friday Show

The Bourbon Friday Show with Chris Rhein from Starwolf

On this episode of the Bourbon Friday Show we had the opportunity to talk with Chris Rhein, Starwolf, about the band’s history and recent album release.

Old Friends with New Sound

Being born in a musical family, it almost seemed destined for Rhein, now vocalist and bassist for Starwolf, to end up in the music scene. He’s also coupled his musical passion with a career at Tunespeak, a startup at T-Rex, that offers a loyalty platform for musicians to help identify and reward their most passionate fans.

Starwolf got its start after a few friends started jamming together after playing with other bands in adjacent music scenes.
Not coincidentally, this episode marks an important date for the group’s time together thus far: their first album release. The album, Ti Amo, Stargazer, contains six self produced, self recorded and mixed tracks. Although they have put out several demos in the past and were featured at LouFest in 2017, this album holds great significance for the group.

Ti Amo, Stargazer, which Rhein describes as β€œsubtle funk pop… heavy on the analog synthesizers, with a lot of funky base groups” draws inspiration from a wide array of artists like Talking Heads, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, to Tame Impala and Mac DeMarco.

Join Bourbon Friday every Friday at 4:00pm (CT) on Zoom.
As always, the Bourbon Friday team does their best to choose a fitting drink for the occasion.

The bourbon for this week is StilL630 Monon Bell. While many of the more common whiskeys are produced year-round, distilleries often choose to release their exclusive products during the fall each year. So in honor of Starwolf’s recent album release an often sought-after StilL630 pick was shared on the show this week.
