Cortex Innovation District received a call-out in the latest Brookings report on the rise of innovation districts. The report’s authors commended Cortex’s deliberate grouping of buildings owned or supported by well-respected “innovation cultivators”—in this case, CIC, CET and others. The report notes, “… this clustering was deeply intentional and viewed as a way to stimulate new relationships, new networks, and the cross-fertilization of ideas. … We anticipate more innovation districts to follow suit.”

EY Entrepreneur of the Year
Last week EY announced the winners of its EY Entrepreneur of the Year Central Midwest Award in Overland Park, Kansas. Of the eight winners, St. Louis area recipients included Rusty Keeley (The Keeley Company, construction award winner). David Bailey (Baileys’ Restaurants, hospitality award winner), Gabe Douek (Gateway Media LLC, media and entertainment award winner) and Bob Hummert (Grimco, Inc, distribution award winner). These regional winners are now eligible for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year national award.
