The Yield Lab Launches Venture Fund and Accelerator Program in Asia Pacific

The Yield Lab opens agrifood tech venture fund and accelerator program in Singapore.

The Yield Lab has announced the addition of the Yield Lab Asia Pacific to its global network.

The Yield Lab Asia Pacific is a food and agricultural technology (agrifood tech) venture fund and accelerator, structured similarly to its peer accelerators in North America, Europe, and Latin America. Based in Singapore, this fund will focus on driving innovation across the entire Asia Pacific region.

Applicants to the 2019 Yield Lab Asia Pacific program are invited to apply online via the Yield Lab website.

“The Yield Lab Asia Pacific is bringing all of the great strategy and methods that has made those attending our accelerator program successful in driving follow on investment,” said Claire Pribula, Managing Director of the Yield Lab Asia Pacific. “There is no more important purpose than food sustainability, and no better place in Asia Pacific than Singapore from which to access the AP regions diverse agrifood subject matter expertise, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, and investment.”

STL’s Global Footprint

Q4 of 2018 has seen startup accelerators across all industries in St. Louis expanding their influence globally. The Yield Lab’s announcement mirrors a similar announcement from Stadia Ventures, who recently partnered with Hatcher+ in Singapore.

Sam Fiorello, COO of the The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center (DDPSC) welcomed this expansion of St. Louis’ ag innovation footprint saying, “The DDPSC is the world’s largest private ag research center. We best achieve our mission by extensive ag ecosystem collaborations such as those forged by the Yield Lab’s efforts around the globe.”

Founded in 2014, and operating in North America, Europe and Latin America, the Yield Lab Accelerators invest $100,000 (USD) into early stage agrifood tech startups. These startups take part in tailored accelerator programming, receive one on one mentorship, and gain access to the Yield Lab’s global network of agricultural businesses, scientists’ farmers and investors.

The Yield Lab focuses on technologies in crop production and plant science, animal health and welfare, precision agriculture, supply chain/logistics, sustainability, and food ingredients. It also makes seed and series A investments into opportunities selected from its accelerator graduates and other agrifood tech opportunities.

“We believe commercializing innovative solutions to sustainably feed the world’s population is the largest challenge facing human kind.” said Thad Simons, co-founder and Managing Director at The Yield Lab. “Establishing the Yield Lab in Asia Pacific, where 60% of the world’s populations lives, is a logical extension to our the Yield Lab funds in North America, Latin America and Europe.”
