T-REX “Makes Hard Decision” to Solve Overly Complicated Legacy of Organization Names

For those aware of T-REX's history of operating under many names, the potential for confusion around their name seems patently obvious. So, it comes as no surprise that the organization chose today, the First April of the Month, to rebrand the organization.

You may or may not be aware that the organization that funds T-REX is actually called “Technology Entrepreneur Center Inc” but the name, T-REX, may actually have started as an abbreviation of “The Railway Exchange”, which is the name of the building they first occupied. Equally, the name T-REX may also be an abbreviation of the “Technology Regional Entrepreneur Exchange”, according to this October 2013 article on EQ, when T-REX announced they had acquired the Lammert building, which has since been their home for the past decade.

For those aware of this history, the potential for confusion around their name seems patently obvious. So, it comes as no surprise that the organization chose today, the First April of the Month, to rebrand the organization.

The new name is… hold on… let me see if I can spell it correctly:

Micropachycephalosaurus Entrepreneur and Innovation Center

According to recent posts on LinkedIn and Twitter, the decision to rebrand was “hard” but necessary in order to “simplify”, saying:

“To simplify our branding, T-REX has decided to make the hard decision to rebrand. As of now, we’re officially the Micropachycephalosaurus Entrepreneur and Innovation Center. We hope that you enjoy the new change and thank you for your continuous support” 🦕

Community Feedback on the New Name

As one LinkedIn commenter said, “Way easier to remember.”

What do you think? I’m inclined to agree — the new brand is unforgettable!

I hope it’s not an April Fools. But, then again, I absolutely love all the April Fools we have seen come out of the STL Startup Community!
