SafeTrek has partnered with Downtown STL, Inc to keep residents safer. Downtown STL, Inc purchased a six-month license, granting access for all Downtown residents to use the startup’s flagship offering, the SafeTrek app.
With more than 800,000 downloads, the simple-to-use SafeTrek app connects users to its helpful dispatch centers 24/7/365, immediately alerting and dispatching police in the event of an emergency with the push and release of a button.
“Since starting SafeTrek at Mizzou, our goal has always been to keep people safe.” said SafeTrek co-founder and CEO Zach Winkler in a statement.
“Bringing SafeTrek back home to Missouri from California was an opportunity we always hoped we’d have, and now thanks to the support from the St. Louis community, we can call Missouri SafeTrek’s home once again. We could not be more excited to join Missouri’s already thriving startup ecosystem, which is the perfect environment to accelerate our mission to keep people safe.”
The 2015 Downtown St. Louis Residential Occupancy Report listed almost 9,000 residents living Downtown/Downtown West. The organization is still working on its distribution strategy for the SafeTrek subscriptions it is sponsoring.
“We are happy to offer iTunes’ number-one safety app to Downtown residents so they can take it everywhere they go,” said Downtown STL, Inc. President & CEO Missy Kelley in a statement.
The SafeTrek team also announced today that they are relocating their operations from San Diego to St. Louis, choosing the T-REX Innovation Center to set up shop.
“We are so pleased to have SafeTrek locate here in St. Louis. They are a brilliant young company with incredible promise, and an important example of the great growth of the tech ecosystem in St. Louis,” said Patricia Hagen, executive director of T-REX in a statement.
