Capital Innovators Announce Accelerator’s Fifth Class Of Tech Startups
Capital Innovators announced the companies accepted into its Fall 2013 Accelerator Program on Tuesday evening at the Savvis Headquarters Atrium in Chesterfield.
Capital Innovators announced the companies accepted into its Fall 2013 Accelerator Program on Tuesday evening at the Savvis Headquarters Atrium in Chesterfield. The group provides tech startups with $50,000 seed money, free office space in downtown St. Louis, access to mentors, web hosting, networking and follow-up funding opportunities in exchange for 5 percent to 10 percent equity.
The newly accepted companies will start the 12-week program on Monday, Sept. 16, when they move into their offices in the startup co-working space at T-REX. The new class of startups accepted into the Capital Innovators accelerator are:
RoverTown
RoverTown Student Discount Program, businesses can effectively reach college students via their cellphones. Students need only them show the coupon on their phones to receive discounts from local businesses. It’s estimated that 2,000 businesses across the U.S. are currently using RoverTown, accessing 1.4 million college students.
Symvato
Symvato provides a fully online and self-serve HIPAA Security Risk Assessment to small private physician practices, allowing providers to focus on their patients. The SAAS application is simple, self-paced and affordable. Moreover, if the program detects a vulnerability, it offers suggested actions providers should take to mitigate potential damages.
Pixel Press
Pixel Press is an app that allows users to create, develop, and design a video game very simply. To create a game with Pixel Press, participants use a pencil, a piece of graph paper, an eraser, and an iPhone, iPad, or Android, first using a drawn geometric shorthand system to illustrate levels on a graph paper.
Simply photograph the drawing with an iPhone or iPad, and the application translates the geometric signals into levels that can actually be played.
HealthyMe
HealthyMe aims to reduce hospital re-admissions and improve patient outcomes with their HealthyMe Transition Care Program for diabetes. The program mitigates financial penalties for tertiary care hospitals, enables hospitals to communicate with at-risk patients, and provides brand messaging.
The program “learns” through patient self-reporting which messages are most relevant to that patient. The company plans on adding additional disease sets incrementally.
Kingdom Scene Endeavors
Kingdom Scene Endeavors is an online virtual world designed to impart Christian values to kids. The virtual world is subscription-based and intended to have global appeal.
The interactive online environment features stories, games, and transformative content for kids ages 7 to 13. The Kingdom Scene company summary states they seek to encourage faith, character and service in kids by partnering with families and churches worldwide.
